Chocolate Almond Butter Protein Shake

I love smoothies for the days where things are hectic or I just don't want to spend time in the kitchen cooking. They're a great tool for when you're on the go, and with the right ingredients they can actually be a complete meal. The key is to make sure it's loaded with protein, fiber, healthy fats, and some leafy greens if you're up for it. But if you're not ready to add in the frozen spinach, this is a good "gateway shake."


  • 1 scoop of chocolate flavored protein powder (I like Garden of Life's organic chocolate protein powder)

  • 1/3 banana, frozen

  • 1 1/2 cups almond milk

  • 1 Tbsp almond butter

  • 2 Tbsp flax seeds

  • 1 tbsp cacao nibs, optional

  • handful of ice, optional


  1. Blend all ingredients together in a blender and enjoy!
