Getting Pregnant Naturally With PCOS After 3 Years of Trying with Treatments: Abigail's Story

I first reached out to Lauren in February 2021 because I had been diagnosed with PCOS and was trying to get pregnant and it wasn’t happening. However, I was hesitant about changing my diet since I loved sweets, was on a tight budget, and just felt so overwhelmed already. I decided to wait a few more months and see what happened. Over the next 6 months, I did a few rounds of letrozole [an ovulation-inducing fertility treatment] but didn’t get pregnant. So In August 2021 I decided it was time to reach back out to Lauren and I started her program.

I saw very very quickly changes in how I felt. I used to feel very bloated and I got tired easily. I didn’t check my scale, but over the last few months I could tell I had been gaining weight because of how my clothes felt and didn’t know what to do about it.

I didn’t get pregnant right away but I was happy with the results because within a few weeks I felt healthier.

I am so bad at following recipes but Lauren gave me the nutritional advice to made my own meals using her recipes as inspiration. I made sure I had the right components in each meal such as protein, carbs, vegetables, healthy fats and fiber.

The first thing I noticed was a big change in my energy, and even though I didn’t weigh myself, I could feel that I was slimming down and I was able to fit into skirts I hadn’t worn in over a year! Also, my cycles had been very irregular, one cycle could be 20 days and another over 40. But I started getting cycles between 28-35 days and that alone made me happier! I also used to suffer from extreme mood swings. I was feeling better in terms of my mood, but I knew it was real when my husband told me that he noticed that I was way less moody!

I had been trying to get pregnant for 3 years total but it took me six months to get pregnant once I changed my diet. I still got frustrated every cycle because although they were regular, I kept asking why I wasn’t getting pregnant. I kept asking myself “why is it not happening?” I realized it was just about being patient and trusting the process.

I ended up getting pregnant naturally! When I finally got pregnant, there was a day that I missed my period and then after a couple of weeks I started eating a lot of junk food. This was strange because my sugar cravings had really gone down a few weeks after I started working with Lauren. I thought I had just lost all self control, but it turned out I was pregnant! I've come to terms with how long it took me to get here, but for a while it was really frustrating to think about the fact that I waited so long to do this. It’s been a really long journey with my PCOS and fertility but now I feel like I trust my body and my pregnancy is going really well!
